Every individual has different outlook in life. Some see a brighter future while others see an obscure future. What could happen if every individual is optimistic in life?
Before further discussion, what is optimism? Optimism comes from the Latin word optimus, meaning “best,” which describes how an optimistic person is always looking for the best in any situation and expecting good things to happen. It is an inclination to anticipate the best possible outcome of actions and events.
Let us take a look at how these two men react when they have a loss in their first year of operation in their own business. The first man states, “I always do poorly in managing a business. I am such a failure. I cannot do anything right!” The second man says, “This is just the beginning. I will study more the business and see to it to have a successful one.” As we can see, they reacted differently. What do you observed? Is it that the first man is pessimist and the second man is optimist? The two shows what psychologists call it as explanatory styles. Explanatory style is a psychological attribute that indicates how people explain to themselves why they experience a particular event, either positive or negative. It reflects three attributions that a person forms about a recent event. Did it happen because of me (internal) or something or someone else (external)? Is this something that affects all aspects of my life (pervasive) or was it a solitary occurrence (limited)?
Being optimistic contributes healthier and wealthier in life. Why healthier and wealthier? Some psychologists think optimists tend to be healthier because they cope better when they cannot meet their goals. Because they cope better, they deliberate better and effective ways to become wealthier. So, they become wealthier.
Being optimist does not mean that you are out of touch with reality, ignoring difficulties and obstacles, and behaving in a naïve way. Some individuals act that way. They act that way and call themselves optimistic. That should not be. Being an optimistic means, that you hope and expect events and plans to turn out well; that you look with a smile and a vibrant eye on the future. Also, it does not mean that because you hope for a better tomorrow, you are not doing any action in order to reach your goal. You must continually act in order to reach your objective.
If you aim for a wealthy life, some of these suggestions are for you. We, Jimmy Jr and Michelle, are also starting our business and we also do these.
See failure as a new start. Our business is already at its second year by the end of this current year. We struggle in setting up our business. It is normal to have loss in first year of operation. Because at first year, there is more shelling out of cash. Probably, redemption of expenditures in running out the business will be this coming years. Like what others tell, it will take three to five years in order for a business to be fully established. So, when you fail in your first attempt, do not lose hope. Instead of blaming yourself for the failure, think about the outside influences that may have affected your goal and act congruently.
It is the best choice to be optimistic. Being optimistic helps you see new opportunities, learn from different situations, keep moving forward.
Surround yourself by optimistic people. Like what our mentor always tell us, “Do not be bombarded by people around you.” What happens to you when you are surrounded by people spreading good vibes? Isn’t it you feel healthier, enhanced, and recovered?
We will end this article by asking you these questions, “At this point in your life, how far are you in reaching your goal? What were your tactics in order to achieve your goal? Did you fail, learn from it and continue your dreams? When you fail, how would you address it? Do you react like what the first or second man in the illustration reacted?”
