LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Mayor Roderick Awingan will initially focus his attention on the implementation of good housekeeping in the municipal government to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of quality basic services to the rapidly growing population of the province’s major urban center.
Awingan, together with key department heads from the different offices of the local government, conducted an ocular inspection around the municipal hall to ascertain the places that need to be improved to provide people transacting business in the different offices convenience and comfort when visiting the seat of government in the municipality.
“There will be no fanfare because we will hit the ground running while giving utmost attention to the numerous issues and concerns besetting our municipality” Mayor Awingan stressed.
Part of the facilities that need to be immediately improved in the municipal hall will be the comfort rooms so that people using the same will experience comfort aside from ensuring that the said toilets will have steady supply of water.
The mayor claimed that there had been numerous issues and concerns, internally and externally, that cropped up during his series of meetings with the various officials and employees of the local government which must be addressed with utmost caution that is why the conduct of good internal housekeeping is necessary to ensure that whatever actions that will be taken will be aligned with the priorities of his administration.
La Trinidad serves as the show window of the province apart from being the center of trade and commerce considering its proximity to Baguio City, the country’s undisputed Summer Capital.
Awingan rallied concerned sectors in the municipality to provide the local government with their suggestions and recommendations on how to undertake the various programs, projects and activities that will sustain the town’s growth and development amidst the current challenges that are being encountered.
According to him, his administration will observe an open door policy that will allow the people to be able to freely transact business with the different offices and be able to enter his office to bring to his attention their issues and concerns that need the action of the local chief executive.
He assured the various stakeholders in the municipality that his administration will also embrace the conduct of consultations with all concerned sectors to elicit their insights in dealing with the different issues and concerns that need immediate action by the local government and other offices to guarantee the practice of transparent and participatory governance where municipal officials walk the talk.
Awingan urged the people to support his aspiration to bring La Trinidad to greater heights in the future through the sustainable implementation of big ticket programs and projects that will elevate the town’s status to a higher level. By Dexter A. See
