LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Presumptive mayor and incumbent Vice-mayor Roderick Awingan vowed to enhance and strengthen the pro-people programs and projects of the administration of Board Member-elect and present Mayor Romeo K. Salda to provide genuine service to the people of the province’s capital town.
Awingan, who was overwhelmingly voted by the town’s electorate as the next local chief executive, said that he will do a lot of housekeeping to improve the current state of the municipal hall for the benefit of the people transacting business in the different offices.
He claimed that the municipal government would like to create a first hand impression by the people on the state of the offices and its public facilities for them to experience hustle free transactions when visiting the municipal hall for whatever purpose.
He also assured the people that transparency and accountability will be observed in the planning, execution and monitoring of local government programs, projects and activities to ensue the utmost participation of the public and concerned stakeholders that will lead to further growth and development of the municipality, being the gateway to northern Benguet and the central Cordillera.
According to him, the crafting of the town’s short, medium and long term development plans will be done in close coordination with the members of the municipal council and in consultation with concerned stakeholders to ensure that whatever programs, projects and activities will be implemented will be attuned to the current development initiatives of concerned government agencies and the provincial government.
Awingan expressed his gratitude, in behalf of his partymates, to the town’s electorate for their overwhelming trust and confidence in voting for him, Presumptive Vice-Mayor and incumbent Councilor Guiller Galwan and the six members of his 8-person council slate to their new responsibilities and assured them that they will reciprocate this with genuine service.
The incoming municipal chief executive committed that his administration will embark on the aggressive establishment of linkages with concerned agencies, the private sector and even foreign governments and institutions, to be able to access the needed resources that will sustain the implementation of the local government’s high impact development initiatives towards enhancing the town’s growth and development.
For the past several years, La Trinidad has been a multi-awarded municipal government that garnered numerous regional and national recognitions for the implementation of the government’s various initiatives beneficial to the welfare of the greater majority of the populace.
Awingan rallied concerned sectors in the municipality to actively participate in the future conduct of consultations by the municipal government and provide suggestions and recommendations to update the current programs, projects and plans of the local government towards achieving the primary goal of advancing the town’s state of development and enhancing the delivery of quality basic services to the people in the grassroots level.
He stipulated that efforts will also be done to help in uplifting the state of the town’s agriculture sector, it being the major source of strawberries and cutflowers being sold inside and outside the municipality and as far as Metro Manila and other parts of the country, to provide farmers with sustainable sources of income and to advance the development of the sector aside, from elevating its status to a higher level.
Another sector that will be given the necessary attention is tourism considering the emergence of numerous tourist spots in the municipality and Awingan there will be no sector that will be left behind in the implementation of the local government’s programs, projects and plans as his administration will embark on a holistic approach to development for inclusivity and sustainability.
