MANKAYAN, Benguet – Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong commended the law enforcers, health personnel, barangay officials and volunteers from the four towns in northern Benguet for their dedication and sacrifice in managing the daily operations of the common triage to help control the rapid spread of the dreaded Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the different municipalities of the province.
Ayong, in close coordination with Buguias Mayor Ruben Tindaan, Bakun Mayor Bill Raymundo and Kibungan Mayor Cesar Molitas, earlier agreed to put up the common triage for northern Benguet strategically located in barangay Natubleng, Buguias to assist the municipalities in the strict implementation of community quarantine measures to restrict the movement of people inside and outside the said places as local officials were alarmed over the continuous surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the capital town of La Trinidad and Baguio City which people frequently visit.
He stated that based on the agreement of the local chief executives on the sustained operation of the common triage, each of the municipalities will take charge of deploying the personnel to manage the operation of the said triage in strictly implementing the community quarantine measures among the motorists passing through the said area.

The cooperating municipal governments scheduled their turns at the common triage as follows: Mankayan on Saturdays and Sundays, Buguias on Mondays and Tuesdays, while Bakun’s turn is on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Kibungan will take charge on Fridays.
The local chief executive pointed out that the participating municipal governments are aggressively implementing the prescribed community quarantine health and safety protocols in their areas of jurisdiction to prevent the sudden surge in COVID cases in these places.
The municipal mayor expressed his gratitude to the motorists passing through the common triage, especially those coming from neighboring provinces in the region, for their utmost cooperation with the personnel managing the triage to protect the health and safety of the people, thus, motorists should continue to be patient in the slight delays in their travel when asked to present their travel documents for evaluation and assessment.
“We will continue to pool our resources to ensure the sustained operation of the Natubleng common triage for as long as the threat of the deadly virus exists. We cannot afford to have our constituents exposed to the elements and for them to contract the illness as our health care facilities might not be able to accommodate the sudden increase in cases. We also do not want to burden the provincial government and other neighboring municipalities about the problems that will arise once there will be a surge in COVID-19 cases in our municipalities,” Mayor Ayong stressed.
