TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Brgy. Bado Dangwa celebrated its 38th Founding Anniversary and the 1st Banana Festival, held on March 8 at the Barangay Gym.
This year’s theme, “Celebrating Our Roots, Harvesting Our Dreams,” highlights the community’s growth and unity.
Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero served as the guest of honor and speaker during the celebration, where he expressed gratitude for the strong support from the community and the barangay officials, headed by Punong Barangay Joseph Pagtan.
He highlighted the significance of the celebration, reflecting on the collective efforts that have contributed to building a thriving community.
The mayor also made a pledge to build a gymnasium for the Bado Dangwa National High School and announced his commitment to pursue future projects aimed at improving the welfare of the community.
Additionally, in line with the 1st Banana Festival, he encouraged local farmers to enhance their banana plantations and innovate new products that could improve their livelihoods.
As part of the festival, Mayor Estrañero promised to support farmer training programs through the Office for City Agricultural Services, with a focus on identifying and managing banana diseases.
During the festivities, students from the barangay showcased vibrant dances, featuring banana-inspired props and attire.
Various groups also participated in a cooking competition using banana-based products, adding to the lively celebration. By Ian Jefrey Addatu
