City officials recently commended and congratulated the members of the Ballet Baguio Elite team, particularly Michel Julianne Grace Quan, Pheba Rei Buen and Quisha Babas, for winning in the Asian Ballet Competition held from September 14-15, 2025 at the Aliw Theater, Pasay City.
Under Resolution No. 577, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the ballet dancers’ outstanding performance is a testament to their discipline, hard work and the support of their coaches, family and the sports community.
The Asian Ballet Competition is a high-quality competition that supports the growth of ballet education in Asia.
Further, this competition offers valuable experience for young dancers at all levels to present themselves on stage and learn from the jury members’ comments. It also focuses on artistry and rewards talented dancers with awards and medals, recognizes the dedication of dance educators and presents certificates to the teachers and schools of the awarded participants.
The Asian Ballet Competition aims to promote classical and contemporary ballet and to establish a platform for dance students at all levels to show their talents.
In the competition, the members of the Ballet Baguio Elite team exhibited exceptional skills, sportsmanship and dedication in their respective categories bringing honor and recognition to the city.
Winner Quan snared the gold for Best Performance Award in the Classical Solo – adult category; Buen who also got the gold in the Classical Solo – adult category and Babas settled for the silver in the Classical Solo – senior category.
Moreover, Quan and Buen also received 50-percent scholarships at the 2025 Ballet Incentive Program while Babas was awarded a 30-percent scholarship.
