BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently commended and congratulated the Baguio delegation for excellence in the 2024 Batang Pinoy Games held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan last November 23-28, 2024 where the city landed in second place overall.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that the exceptional accomplishments of the athletes comprising the city’s delegation not only brought pride to the city but also reflected the high level of training and discipline nurtured by the local sports community led by the City Sports office and various sports organizations.
Earlier, the 2024 Batang Pinoy Games was held on November 23-28, 2024 in Puerto Princesa, Palawan and was organized by the Philippine Sports Commission to provide an avenue for young Filipino athletes to showcase their skills, talent and sportsmanship in various sports disciplines.
Baguio, which held the overall title for four consecutive years, participated in the prestigious event with a dedicated and talented delegation of young athletes who competed in various sports categories during the 6-day sports competition.
The council noted that the Baguio delegation achieved remarkable success in the competition and the athletes were able to bring home a total of 253 medals consisting of 92 golds, 72 silvers and 89 bronzes.
It added that the city’s outstanding performance earned it a well deserved second place overall out of the 230 participating local government units, a testament to the dedication, hard work, and skill of each athlete, coaches and sports officials.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the members of the Baguio City delegation for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
