City officials recently commended and congratulated the city’s barangay health workers (BHWs) during the Luzon leg Kampeon ng Kalusugan BHW Health Promotion Summit held last August 14, 2024 at the Royse Hotel and Casino in Clark, Pampanga.
Under Resolution No. 547, series of 2024, city legislators stated that the local government recognizes and values the essential role of BHWs in the promotion of health and wellbeing and the continuous fight against health disparities within the community.
The council claimed that the city’s BHWs had long been at the forefront of delivering essential health care services to the community, serving as the bridge between the public and the health care system, particularly in grassroots and underserved areas.
The Luzon leg Kampeon ng Kalusugan BHW Health Promotion Summit was celebrated to recognise the dedication, commitment and tireless efforts of BHWs across the Luzon regions.
During the said summit, some Baguio-based BHWs were recognized for their years of service to the community and contributions to the health and well-being of the residents, namely, Roselda Tagibos of Camdas barangay – Silver Awardee for 20 years service, Divina Pakoy of Lower QM barangay – Bronze Awardee for 20 years service and Adelaida Salundaguit of San Roque Village – Bronze Awardee for her 10 years in service.
The council pointed out that these awards not only reflect the years of service rendered by the individuals but also underscore the significant impact of their work in improving public health, promoting health awareness and providing crucial medical support within their respective communities.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to these awardees and their respective barangays for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
