The PCCI-Baguio Benguet Chapter, Inc. in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry¬- Provincial Office, TESDA-Baguio and the Cordillera ADIVAY Lions International successfully embarked a program entitled; the BEST (Basic Entrepreneurial Skills Training) program. A project that will provide the youths with another good career option which is by becoming successful entrepreneurs someday.
The half-day Orientation Sessions were conducted for grade 10 students in two different secondary school namely, the Quezon and Guisad Valley National High Schools, Baguio City There were about two hundred ninety one (291) students and their respective advisers who attended the activities.
The Department of Trade and Industry – PO discussed the topics on Introduction of Entrepreneurship. They were able to know who is an Entrepreneur, Rewards and Risks in going to Business, Contribution of Entrepreneurship to the local and national economy and other topics related to entrepreneurship. While TESDA presented the different short courses and scholarships offered by the agency and all TESDA accredited Tech-Voc Institutes (TVIs), and other universities and colleges. Members and officers of the Cordillera ADIVAY Lions Club International assisted in facilitating the activities and sponsored the snacks for the students.
Workshop on How to Generate Business and Job Ideas through games and structured learning exercises were conducted after which the output of the activity was undertaken and processed by the PCCI-BBCI staff. The students were also taught on how to analyze and select the best business or job ideas that were generated from the exercises. The students were able to come up with one based according to their interest.
It is now high time and very important that our youth be trained in such a way that they will be able to imbibe the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in the fields of entrepreneurship or any skills, talents that they love doing it.
PCCI-BBCI President Modesto B. Imayaho, Sr., in his very inspiring message, urged the students to study K to 12.
Seriously, make all the things you have learned from this orientation by choosing the right path for your own success. Mr. Imayaho further stressed that the students will choose what they love doing and the things based on their hobbies and talents.
The BEST PROGRAM has its other components to be taught to higher level particularly those students opted to choose a better career path for them which is ENTREPRENEURSHIP!
