BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently commended and congratulated the Baguio City Football Club for being the champions in three categories and second place in two categories in the recently concluded Ilocos Sur Football Association (IFSA) Futsal Cup 2024 held last October 12-13, 2024 in Ilocos Sur against the supposed strongest football clubs from the different parts of the country.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that the achievement of the Baguio City Football Club again demonstrates that the city is one of the hubs of sports in the country thereby giving pride and honor to the city.
Earlier, five teams for the city emerged as champions and second placers in the recently conducted 2024 ISFA Futsal Cup held last October 12-13, 2024 at Ilocos Sur that was actively participated by numerous teams from the different parts of the country.
The coaches of the participating Baguio City football teams are Jerry P. Soriano, Dave Fiangaan, Ross Rillera, Joan Kani, Jay R. de Vera and Lili Sumerbang.
The teams that emerged victorious in the said competition were the women’s team in the open category, Born 2014 category and Born 2012 category while the second placers were the teams representing the Born 2010 mixed category and girls Born 2004 category.
Futsal is one of the emerging sports in the country that has gotten the interest of young and old people following the success of the Philippine women’s football team that was able to enter the World Cup this year.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the Baguio City Football Club, the members of the teams and their coaches for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
