BAGUIO CITY – With a score of 3-1, Baguio City E-Lions bagged gold for secondary volleyball men as they edged out the Benguet Stingers earning their five-peat at the championship of CARAA 2025 in the final game held at Benguet Sports Complex Gym, La Trinidad on February 27.
The E-Lions lead the game in the first set with a score of 27-25, however, the Stingers recovered in the second set with the score of 23-25, yet E-Lions proved their prowess as they prevailed in the third and fourth set with the score of 25-15 and 25-22.
Renzo Gregorio, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) shared that despite the challenges their team encountered during the training, they were able to push through the championship.
“Preparations po namin is pahirapan po talaga mas lalo na po sa court. Iyong gym po namin sa school, kadalasan po na may event kaya pahirapan po talagang maghanap ng court kaya puro
kami endurance sa oval” (Our preparation was not easy especially when it came to the court
since there is always an event in the school gym so all we have to do is have the endurance
practice at the oval), Gregorio stated.
He also admitted that aside from the difficulties in their training, they were challenged during the game because the Stingers performed well.
“Honestly po binigyan po kami ng magandang laro ng Benguet pero pinilit pa rin po naming manalo para sa five-peat ng Baguio” (Honestly, Benguet gave us a good game but we still did our best to win for the five-peat of Baguio), Renzo said.
Roxanne Dhale Mariñas, the E-Lions volleyball men’s coach stated that she was confident that their team will win because of the good performance shown by their players from the beginning of the CARAA meet.
Mariñas also shared that they condition their athletes’ body and mind because it has a big factor in their performance.
She also shared that despite the pressure that the E-Lions feel, they encourage them to just enjoy the game.
