The Baguio fire station will soon be having its permanent home within a 1,200-square meter lot along Kisad Road right in front of the Crown Legacy Hotel once the title to the said property will be issued in the name of the agency.
Fire Superintendent Mirasol Odiber said that once the title to the land will be issued in the name of the agency, this will be used to request for funds from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) central office for the construction of the new city fire station right in the heart of the city.
Odiber claimed that the area will serve both as the permanent site for the BFP-CAR regional office and the city fire station so there will be 2 structures that will be constructed in the area for both offices.
The city fire marshal said that the permanent home of the city fire station will include a depot for the various vehicles and equipment of the office to ensure timely response to calls for emergency response.
Earlier, the city fire station temporarily relocated to barangay Irisan from its previous site fronting the Baguio Justice Hall following plans of the city government to put up a multi-level structure that will help in decongesting the main city hall building.
At present, the city fire station has 3 sub-stations located in barangays Irisan, Aurora Hill and Quirino Hill.
The city government is contemplating on putting up more fire substations in strategic areas in the city specifically Gibraltar, Loakan and along Marcos highway but these has yet to be realized because of the lack of funds.
