BAGUIO CITY – Students of Baguio City High School, through the Supreme Student Government (SSG), gave away umbrellas to teachers and non-teaching personnel as a token of love in honor of their painstaking sacrifice of time, effort and resources to teach the students their lessons for the day
The gift-giving was part of the annual SSG-sponsored activity in line with the celebration of World Teachers’Day last week, also a part of the recognition of the contribution of teachers to the molding of students as responsible and productive citizens of the city and the country as well.
Teachers and members of the non-teaching staff were handed their token after the program.
The program which was anchored on the theme, “Teachers: Keepers of Hopes and Dreams,” was held at the school gymnasium.
It showcased performances by students and practice teachers to give a tribute to and at the same time entertain the teachers on their special day to reciprocate their patience, perseverance, and dedication in teaching them their lessons and instilling in them the proper values in life.
SSG President Danielle Tan of Grade 10-Prestige said this year’s SSG officers decided to give teachers umbrellas instead of personalized coffee mugs that were the gifts the previous years.
“We are happy for the gift. The umbrellas are like teachers’ love for their students. Rain or shine, the love remains”, said Technology and Livelihood Education teacher Romana Laoyan.
