City officials recently granted the authority for the local chief executive representing the local government to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the provincial government of La union for the collaborative partnership on tourism marketing and promotion.
Under Resolution No. 538, series of 2024, local legislators stated that the Committee on laws, Human Rights and Justice, in its 3rd indorsement dated August 15, 2024 recommended approval of the earlier request of the City Mayor to be given authority on behalf of the local government to enter into an agreement with the provincial government of La Union to cultivate collaborative partnership in the fields of tourism, culture and the arts.
In his letter dated August 2, 2024, City Administrator Bonifacio I. Dela Peña requested authorization for the City Mayor to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the provincial government of La Union in the light of the city and the province’s shared interest in cultivating a collaborative partnership for mutual benefit on the fields of tourism, culture and the arts.
The council claimed that the city and the provincial governments discussed the possible collaboration for tourism marketing and tourism partnership.
The council added that the collaborative partnership on tourism, marketing and promotions opened opportunities for the exchange of best practices to promote local tourism attractions and products.
Further, the body pointed out that the said partnership introduced new tourism markets and connections to both parties that will surely boost the growth of the city and province’s tourism industry.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the provincial government of La Union for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
