BAGUIO CITY – The city’s electorate will have a chance to have a closer look into the candidates for the various elected local positions as they will be given the opportunity to expound of their respective platforms of government during the upcoming conduct of the Baguio Leaders Forum on April 14-15 at the Cordillera Convention hall of the Baguio Country Club (BCC) and on April 21-22, 2025 at the Garden Wing of the Camp John Hay Trade and Cultural Center.
The forum is organized by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB), the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) and the Cordillera office of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA-CAR) purposely to educate the city’s electorate for them to become empowered voters during the upcoming May 12, 2025 mid-term elections.
Further, the forum will provide the candidates an equal opportunity to be able to expound on their respective platforms of governance as the same is considered as a level playing field for bot the well to do and less in life candidates wanting to serve the people.
Vice Mayor Faustino A. Olowan and Councilor Maria Mylen Victoria G. Yaranon who are the candidates for the city’s vice mayoralty post will have a face off at the forum on April 14, 8 am to 12 noon where they will have the luxury of informing and educating the voters on how they will run the affairs of the local legislative body if given the chance to do so.
From 1-5 pm on the same, day the mayoralty candidates, Benny Bomogao, Abdul Camo rein Ann Cayetano, Mark Andrew Direkto, Mark Go and Benjamin B. Magalong, will have their chance to convince the voters to cast their votes for them if they are convinced on their justifications of their platforms of government.
On April 15, 8 am to 12 noon, the first batch of candidates for the 12-seat city council will have the chance to appear in public and explain their respective platforms of government. They are Ron Perez, Jose Molintas, Paulo Salvosa, John Rhey Mananeng, Edong Carta, JD Tabora, Joel Alangsab and Michael Lawana while the second batch will have their turn from 1-5 pm featuring Fred Bagbagen, Pam Carino, Esther Litilit, Standford Ang, Vladimir Cayabas, Esteban Somngi, Ted Tan and John Glenn Gaerlan.
The much awaited face off among the congressional candidates, former Rep. and Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan, Atty. Nicasio M. Aliping, Jr., Francis Rae, Camtugan II, Councilor Isabelo Cosalan, Jr., Win Win Demoni, Soledad Go and Gladys Vergara-de Vera, will be conducted on April 21, am to 12 noon while the third batch of candidates for city council, Yuri Weygan, Jun Orca, Eric James Kelly, Mike Humiding, Martin Manodon, Levy Orcales, Ryan Javier, and Kurt Justin Santiago, will happen from 1-5 pm on the same day.
The fourth batch of candidates for city councilor, Edison Bilog, Elmer Datuin, Van Dicang, Peter Fianza, Betty Lourdes Tabanda, ?Elaine Sembrano, Leandro Yanongot, Jr and Spencer Basbas, will have their own face off on April 22, 8 am to 12 noon while the fifth face of city council candidates, Norma Benuyo, Edilberto Gapus, Saturnino Lem-ew, Murphy Maspil, Jr., Francisco Neri IV, Albert Ramos, Jr. and Tia Imadhay, will be held from 1-5 pm on the same day.
