BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong formally endorsed the candidacy of Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ M. Lacson for President and Senator Vicente Sotto III for Vice President in the upcoming May 9, 2022 synchronized national and local elections because of their integrity and character that will help in elevating the country to greater heights and to recover from the ongoing wrath of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Magalong, who filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for re-election under the Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC), expressed his confidence that it will be the Lacson-Sotto tandem that will be able to stir the country to economic growth right after the ongoing pandemic shall have been contained.
He disclosed that it is the Lacson-Sotto tandem that have the programs and vision to uplift the country from the prevailing health crisis and who will be able to address issues and concerns such as the campaign against terrorism, insurgency, corruption, among others and the brewing problem in the West Philippine Sea.
The local chief executive claimed that the Lacson-Sotto tandem is equipped with the talent and experience of being able to bring back the vibrancy of the country’s economy and allow it to regain its status as one of the fastest developing nations not only in Southeast Asia but also in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to him, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is not only the problem of the country that is why there is a need for dynamic and experienced leaders who will be able to lead the nation to the right direction in effectively and efficiently addressing equally important issues and concerns confronting the government to avoid the same from being blown out of proportion which could derail the gains that had been achieved through the years.
The mayor is seeking re-election for the top post in the local government because he wants to pursue the completion of the programs, projects and activities that he was able to initiate when he was elected by the city’s electorate during the May 2019 mid-term polls.
The Lacson-Sotto tandem is running under the coalition of political parties such as the Reporma, Nationalist Peoples Coalition (NPC) and the National Unity Party (NUP).
Aside from being dynamic and experienced leaders of the country, he revealed that the Lacson-Sotto tandem also believes in good governance that will surely help in the successful implementation of the government’s anti-corruption campaign as corruption remains to be one of the major problems of the bureaucracy, thus, the need for the same to be effectively and efficiently addressed to ensure that government funds will be used for their prescribed purposes.
He asserted that the Lacson-Sotto tandem is probably the best combination of leaders among the aspirants for President and Vice President who have filed their COCs before the Commission on Elections (ComElec) as part of the ongoing preparations for the May 2022 synchronized elections.
The campaign period for the May 2022 elections will start on February 8, 2022 for those aspiring for elected positions in the national level and March 25, 2022 for candidates wanting to be elected for the different local positions. By HENT
