BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently commended and congratulated Elizabeth Bayla for winning the coveted gold medal in the women’s archery open division during the 8th Philippine National Para Games held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
In a resolution, local legislators stated that Bayla’s incredible performance during the 8th Philippine National Para Games brought another milestone achieved by a Baguio resident aside from the pride she brought to the athletic community and the entire city.
Earlier, Bayla, 56, a resident of Baguio, edged Paris Paralympian Agustina Bantiloc in the 15-arrow Olympic round, 132-131, to seize the gold medal during the 5-day para sports meet organized by the Philippine Paralympic community and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
In 2019, she topped the recurve Open 2019 edition of the Philippine National Para Games where she obtained 25 perfect shots and finished with 637 points.
The Philippine National Para Games is a national tournament that seeks to provide para-athletes with the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents in the various sports disciplines and serve as a venue to discover upcoming para-athletes from the pool of participants in the annual sports event.
The city government sent a 40-man delegation to the Philippine National Para Ga was held recently at the Rizal memorial Sports Complex in metro manila where most of the fielded athletes were able to showcase their skills and talents in the different sports disciplines where they were able to actively participate.
