BAGUIO CITY – City officials extended their warmest felicitations to the city government for having placed 5th Cleanest Cities with the lowest pollution level in Southeast Asia based on the 2024 Mid-Year Numbeo Pollution Index.
Further, local legislators, in a resolution, commended the tremendous efforts of the City General Services Office (GSO), City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) and the entire citizenry of the city for the exemplary distinction.
The council claimed that Numbeo uses users’ reviews to rank cities where it stated to be the world’s largest database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide.
Moreover, it provides a platform to view, share, and compare information about pollution, cleanliness, and purity worldwide.
The Numbeo pollution index is a comprehensive database that assesses pollution levels in urban areas based on various factors, including air quality, water pollution and waste management.
The 2024 Numbeo Mid-Year Pollution Index report released the ranking of cities in Southeast Asia in terms of pollution level from cleanest to most polluted where Baguio City with a pollution level of 72.9 ranked 5th of the top 16 cleanest cities in the region with the lowest pollution index. Singapore topped the list with a pollution index of 32.5.
The council claimed that the distinction bestowed on the city manifests the commitment of the local government to sustain a nourishing environment conducive to life and health of its constituents. The collaborative effort between the city, the concerned offices such as the GSO and CEPMO and the entire citizenry.
