BAGUIO CITY – The city government, through the City Tourism Officer Engr. Aloysius Mapalo, is urging both residents and tourists alike to observe discipline and assume responsibility when visiting the various tourists destinations in the city to be able to maintain law, order and most especially, cleanliness, in the said destinations.
The appeal was issued by the city government following observations in the previous conduct of crowd-drawing events that there has been unscrupulous disposal of wastes in the different tourist spots that made it difficult for the park attendants and personnel of the City General Services Office to collect.
The city tourism officer claimed that there are sufficient garbage bins placed in strategic areas around the parks and public places where people should properly dispose their waste, thus, the public should learn to fix their waste and properly dispose these in the provided receptacles.
He explained that it is important for people to observe discipline and responsibility when visiting different tourist destinations inside and outside the country and contribute in maintaining law, order and cleanliness in the communities where they are visiting.
Baguio, the country’s undisputed Summer Capital, is one of the premier tourist destinations in the country because of its natural attractions such as its cool and romantic weather, and numerous scenic attractions with nature as its major asset.
Mapalo expressed hope there will be a significant improvement on the proper disposal of waste by the public visiting the various tourist destinations in the city for the maintenance of orderliness and cleanliness in the public places and tourist spots. By Dexter A. See
