City officials confirmed the memorandum of understanding (MOU) entered into by the city government and San Antonio, Texas for exploration, exchange and collaboration opportunities as friendship cities with the intent to develop a long-term relationship that aligns with their mutual sectors.
Under Resolution No. 626, series of 2022, the Committee on Tourism, Special Events, Parks and Playgrounds, in its 3rd indorsement dated December 2, 2022, recommended approval of the MOU to help boost the opportunities of the city government in establishing sisterhood and friendship relationships with similarly situated cities from the different parts of the world.
Earlier, the city government entered into a friendship agreement through a MOU dated October 21, 2022 between the city and the City of San Antonio, Texas which intends to explore, exchange and collaboration opportunities as friendship cities with the intent to develop a long-term relationship that aligns with their mutual sectors and that both confirm their intentions within the fields of economic and tourism which aims to explore the feasibility of expanding business ventures/business information sharing as well as tourism exchange; health care that aims to explore best practices in medicine to enhance tactics, techniques and procedures; education which aims to explore educational best practices and possible exchange; social and cultural that eyes to explore best practices in heritage site preservation and annual event management to include major festivals in both cities; ecology and sustainability which intends to explore best practices in park management and environmental and sustainability issues and military and emergency management which aims to explore best practices in humanitarian and disaster relief operations, to review emergency operations center standard operating procedures and to search for potential collaborative synergies between joint base San Antonio and Philippine Military Academy (PMA) for the benefit of local communities.
