BAGUIO CITY — Public elementary and high schools were prepared through landscaping, repair, and donations for school supplies and essentials in a week-long school brigada before the students’ first day of classes starts on June 16.
Public schools within Baguio City conducted a school brigada from June 9 to June 13 to ensure the cleanliness and safety of these learning institutions for the students and employees before starting a new school year.
Quezon Hill Elementary School was one of the schools that partnered with the Cordillera Adivay Lions Club Healthcare Group Branch to monitor the teachers, parents, and students’ glucose and blood pressure on June 10.
“As of now, itong mga medical team ang pumunta. During our kick-off program on June 9, dumalo naman yung mga iba’t ibang barangay representatives; particularly, the education committee in each area like the Middle Quezon Hill Barangay, Quezon Proper Barangay, Victoria Village, and Upper Quezon Hill,” Quezon Hill Elementary School Principal Maria Palsi said.
They also collaborated with the nearby barangays to conduct the school brigada during Independence Day.
Lucban Integrated School was also partnering with the nearby barangays as they welcomed Kindergarten to Grade 6 enrollees this year and prepared to welcome Grades 7 and 8 enrollees for the next school year.
“We hope to accomplish the restructuring of our classrooms, the cleaning, gardening and construction of at least six cubicles for the comfort rooms of our Grade 7 pupils. The plan is we will have Grade 7 and 8 next school year. The following year, Grades 7, 8, [and] 9. Then [the] following year, Grades 7, 8, 9 and 10, until such time that we will be having the senior high school,” Brigada Eskwela Coordinator of Lucban Integrated School John Parayao said.
The teachers conducted a “sectioning” on the last day of the school brigada where they finalized the list of pupils for each section and year levels. By Dessa Joi Peralta
