BAGUIO CITY – Local election watchdogs warned Baguio voters to be wary about the expected black propaganda that will be waged by desperate political quarters against their targeted candidates coupled with their ongoing vote buying activities to advance the political interest of their benefactors for tomorrow’s election.
Some political camps reportedly purchased artificial intelligence softwares to be able to queue malicious remarks purportedly by their targeted candidate to ruin whatever gains that had been achieved during the campaign period to give chance to their benefactors to catchy for the coveted posts in the local level.
The watchdogs reminded the voters of what happened during the May 2022 national and local elections where there were last minute malicious posts stating that the Commission on eElections (Comelec) had disqualified a candidate using fabricated and maliciously manipulated documents and signatures, thus, people must be vigilant about similar matters that might transpire before midnight on the election day so that they will not be gain misled by falsehoods.
The concerned sectors rallied the voters to first verify the veracity of whatever malicious posts that will be posted in social media or manipulated documents that will be left at their residences until the wee hours on election day before making their conclusions so that they will not be gain victims of the massive disinformation being waged by some embattled political quarters and their hired ‘keyboard warrior’ whose only aim is to discredit their targeted candidate in a last-ditch effort to advance the interest of their benefactors and gain the upper hand.
Moreover, the sectors claimed that despite the various forms of vote buying that has been done and is now ongoing until election day, voters will not be duly influenced by whatever amounts they have received or they will still received as they will still vote for the personalities that they know will be able to serve the city with utmost dedication and with proven track record in public service for the greater interest of the city and not for the interest of the politicians doing the massive vote buying activities.
The sectors also called on the public not to immediately share whatever malicious posts against certain candidates that will pop up in social media until midnight and the wee hours of the morning to avoid being part of the grand design to discredit deserving candidates whose aspiration is to serve the greater interest of the city.
