BAGUIO CITY – A city legislator urged the more than 1,800-strong officials and employees of the city government not to hesitate in contributing their skills, knowledge and God-given talent for the overall growth and development of the country’s undisputed Summer Capital.
Councilor Michael L. Lawana, the president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, underscored the importance of unity, teamwork and cooperation among the officials and employees of the city government towards achieving a common objective, that is, to help improve the development status of the city that it has achieved over the past several decades.
He narrated to the officials and employees the true story of an ordinary soldier who came out with a recommendation on how to win the war against their rival nation during the war.
The alderman said the contribution of every official and employee on strategies for the programs, projects and activities of the city government matters and they should not be afraid in voicing out their concerns and issues because they might come out with the best solution on how to approach an existing problem.
He expressed confidence that with the different skills and knowledge of officials and employees in resolving the issues and addressing concerns of the city, policy-makers and decision-makers must learn to listen to even the simplest suggestion and recommendation from concerned individuals as these might turn out to be the best solution to the city’s problems, especially in charting its direction towards a better Baguio.
He challenged government workers to learn to share their insights on how the offices of the city government should work in the implementation of their priority programs, projects and activities so that decision-makers can choose the most strategic way of achieving results that will significantly impact on the lives of the people and the state of the city’s development.
According to him, the city government is about to jumpstart the implementation of high-impact development projects that will significantly impact on the current state of the city and knowledgeable individuals should be given a chance to air their insights for concerned offices to be guided in their actions.
Lawana is now serving his second term as president of the city’s 128 barangays where he proved his leadership prowess as one of the most respected city officials whom people seek for advise on how to approach and act on the problems in their areas of jurisdiction.
He also appealed to policy-makers and decision-makers to learn to listen to the suggestions and recommendations of people on the ground so that they will be properly guided on what appropriate actions to take in the situations that confront them.
