BAGUIO CITY – Winners and participants from the Panagbenga competitions gathered at the Melvin Jones Grandstand and Football Grounds on March 2 for the closing and awarding ceremonies, marking the end of the month-long festivities.
Dignitaries, sponsors, and members from the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. (BFFFI) were present in the event to award the winners in different categories of the Panagbenga competitions.
The program kicked off with a short speech from Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, followed by the awarding and recognition of districts, groups and individuals who competed in diverse competitions brought by the Panagbenga Festival.
Certificates and cash prizes were handed out to the winners of the Kite-Flying Competition, which had Junior, Youth and Adult categories; Open Painting Competition, with Amateur, Professional and Family categories; the Dish Garden Competition, with High School and Elementary categories; and School-Based Landscaping Competition, which had Big and Small Categories.
Additionally, the top three winners of the Rhythm of the Highlands competition; Panagbengascapes: Professional Landscaping Exhibition (with Open, Vertical and Carpet of Flowers categories) the Grand Street Dance Parade (with Drum and Lyre and Street Dance – Elementary, and Dance Festival categories), as well as the Grand Floral Float (with Small, Medium and Large float categories) were recognized and given trophies. Champions of each category received gift certificates from Mang Inasal and Pocari Sweat
Participants in several categories were also given recognition, cash incentives and gift certificates for their participation. Sponsors and volunteers were also honored for their contributions to the festival’s success.
One hundred raffle winners from the event received groceries worth 1,000 pesos and premium GCash items. The program culminated with the announcement of the Grand Raffle Winner, who took home a brand-new iPhone 16.
With the theme “Blossoming Beyond Boundaries”, concluded with a spectacular fireworks display at SM City Baguio. This also marked the last day of Session Road in Bloom and Market Encounter. By Aiyra Marzan
