City officials recently congratulated and commended Baguio wrestlers Helen Aclopen and Pag-ibig de Villa for earning silver and bronze medals in their respective divisions during the 1st Kurash Southeast Asian (sea) championships held last July 20-21, 2024 at the Petro Point Complex, Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia.
Under Resolution No. 485, series of 2024, local legislators stated that Aclopen and de Villa serve as an inspiration for aspiring korash athletes and individuals striving for excellence in their respective endeavors aside from bringing honor and pride to the city.
Earlier, Baguio-based wrestlers Aclopen and de Villa have displayed exceptional dedication, perseverance, and prowess in the field of korash.
Aclopen, 31 and de villa, 23, both residents of Bakakeng Norte,Sur barangay earned the silver medal in the 48-kilogram division and bronze medal under the 78-kilogram division, respective during the 1st Korash SEA championships held last July 20-21, 2024 at the Metro Point Complex, Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia.
The council claimed that Aclopen and de Villa’s commitment to excellence and tireless training have culminated in a momentous victory during the said prestigious international competition and their achievements not only showcased their excellence but also continued the legacy of bringing honor and pride to the country’s undisputed Summer Capital and a sports haven.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to Aclopen ad de Villa for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
