BAGUIO CITY – Joint efforts of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) operatives have resulted in a fruitful outcome as they arrest a 46-year-old woman for Syndicated Illegal Recruitment in the afternoon of November 20, 2024, along Abanao St., Barangay AZCKO, Baguio City.
As detailed in the report submitted to PCol Ruel D Tagel, BCPO City Director, the victim was offered employment in Poland, prompting him to transfer money to secure his deployment abroad. Despite the payment, no job materialized, leading the victim to file a complaint in Isabela against the arrested individual and two others. A warrant of arrest was then issued by the Regional Trial Court of Roxas, Isabela.
Acting on the warrant, the BCPO City Intelligence Unit initiated coordination with BCPO Police Station 7, Regional Intelligence Division – Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (RID-PRO CAR), City Intelligence Team Baguio Regional Intelligence Unit-14 (CIT Baguio RIU-14), and Roxas Municipal Police Station (MPS).
The accused is now in transit to Roxas, Isabela for her to face the charges filed against her.
Anent to the arrest, Tagel urged the public to exercise vigilance when seeking employment opportunities abroad. He emphasized the importance of transacting only with agencies duly licensed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
The City Director also lauded the efforts of personnel behind the success of the operation. He also encouraged citizens to report similar incidents or any activity that threatens justice and peace within the community. “The BCPO, in collaboration with other law enforcement units, will relentlessly pursue those who prey on the dreams of our kababayan. I urge everyone who has fallen victim to this suspect’s fraudulent schemes to speak out and seek help from law enforcement,” he said.
