Barangay Bagumbayan once again showcased their 8th Kape Dekot Festival at the Gawidan Gymnasium on June 8, 2024, with the theme “Moving towards the milestone of progress and development through partnership and collaboration.”
City Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero attended the event and praised the barangay officials and residents for organizing the Kape Dekot festival for guests and visitors.
He emphasized the barangay’s full support and unity in ensuring successful community affairs and activities.
During the celebration, community members collaborated to produce different variations of Dekot, which were presented on a long table.
In an organized manner, with the help of the community, including barangay officials and SKs, they offered Dekot and brewed coffee to all visitors.
Dekot (glutinous rice) is a barangay delicacy that can be enjoyed as a snack, dessert, or even breakfast with a cup of coffee. Glutinous rice, coconut milk, brown sugar, and other ingredients are commonly used to cook the delicacy.
Aside from Dekot, the barangay produces coffee and is well-known for serving some of the city’s greatest coffee varieties. By Ian Addatu
