BAKUN municipality, known for its traditional way of managing its environment to sustain its natural resources, has started its search for the cleanest and greenest school this December.
According to Denver Mariacos, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, said contest aims to promote, protect, manage, and sustain the environment of the municipality.
“The program is anchored on the national greening program and as support to the ecological solid waste management program of the national government,” he added.
Said activity is participated in by 17 elementary schools and three secondary schools with the exception of Ampusongan National High School–Main which is has earned the hall of fame award.
Public Schools District Supervisor Molly Ablaza assists the participating schools in ensuring the attainment of the program’s objectives.
In the barangay level, a search for best practices of barangay local government is also conducted which focuses on the program being conducted for protection and management of the natural resources participated by all the barangays with in the municipality.
Search team composes representatives from different agencies to evaluate and assess of all the participating schools and barangays for the month of December this year.
