SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan – A Barangay Chairman and known leader of the Dawis Drug Group was killed when he attempted to shoot law enforcers who were serving a search warrant in his house on the early morning of September 21, 2016 at Barangay Tayambani here.
Troops from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1 (PDEA RO1) and the Philippine National Police cautiously surrounded the house being used as an illegal drug den and reported to be maintained by the elected official. Upon identifying themselves as law enforcers the barangay chairman shouted defiantly and attempted to draw his gun prompting agents and cops to defend themselves and shoot first.
In a report submitted to PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña by PDEA RO1 Regional Director Jeoffrey C. Tacio, identified the slain suspect as Lamberto Villa also known as Dawes. Two drug den visitors were also cornered trying to flee the area, 30 year old Wilferigno Co and cohort 46 year old Cyrus Gabis both natives of Pangasinan.
Found in the barangay captain’s house were 35 plastic sachets of Methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as shabu weighing 25 grams and street valued at about 75, 000 pesos. Other items confiscated included drug money amounting to 27,000 pesos, a 45 caliber pistol, two units of caliber 38, various ammunition and drug paraphernalia also littered the abode.
Suspects visiting the den are formally charged for cases of violating of Sections 7, 11 & 12 or the “Possession of Illegal Drugs”& “Possession of Equipment, Instrument, Apparatus and other Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs” under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Section 15 for using.
On the same day, 30 year old Arnaiz Aquino was also arrested. Separate troops of San Carlos Police Station and PDEA RO1 raided the house of Arnaiz where they discovered 2 plastic sachets of shabu, several shabu tooters, improvised lighters and aluminum foil used in sniffing the illegal meth. Arnaiz will be facing similar charges.
The search warrants were issued by Judge Hermogenes Fernandez of the Regional Trial Court Branch 56 of San Carlos City.
