TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Travelers to and from barangay Dilag can now securely navigate the road to Dagupan following the installation of street lamps in their area.
After city government won the 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), the city government, in collaboration with the Department of Interior and Local Government-Cordillera (DILG-CAR), chose Dilag as one of the beneficiary barangays for PhP2.3 million in streetlights through the SLGL-Incentive Fund (IF).
The SGLG-IF is a performance-based fund institutionalized under RA 1192 or “Seal of Good Local Governance Act of 2019” which provides an incentive for local governments that have passed the SGLG to continue improving their performance and service delivery to the public.
Another DILG initiative is the installation of a Level III Portable Water System in Barangay Dupag, which will cost PhP2.5 million through the Local Government Support Fund- Support to Barangay Development Projects (LGSF-SBDP).
The LGSF-SBDP is the government’s top priority for improving and providing basic services to conflict-affected barangays caused by insurgency.
The program aims to bring development to physically isolated and former communist conflict-affected barangays in the country under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC) around the country. By Edward Joseph Gacuya
