TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The newly-constructed multipurpose building of Brgy. Masablang was formally inaugurated during the blessing and turn-over ceremony today, January 10.
City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, Barangay Chairman Nellie Allao, with the rest of the barangay council and some barangay employees led the cutting of ribbon for the building.
In an interview with Allao, she claimed that a P2M-fund for the project’s construction was allotted in 2019 under the leadership of the then City Mayor Ferdinand Tubban. A further P2.5M from the city government was allocated for its completion during the Estrañero administration’s first term.
The senior citizen center is located on the first floor, the barangay hall is on the second floor, and the session hall is on the third floor. According to Allao, the former barangay hall would house the community health center.
According to Allao, the barangay bought the land for the new multipurpose structure. She believed that the barangay’s personnel and, more crucially, the population it serves, will greatly benefit from this new facility.
The newly inaugurated facility is a blessing for Masablang this year, according to Mayor Estrañero’s and he hopes that it would inspire the participation of every person in the barangay.
Estrañero added that one of his plans is the completion and renovation and building of barangay halls across the city before the conclusion of his tenure.
For the efficient implementation of programs and services at the barangay level, the mayor said that “all barangays need better barangay hall facilities.”
Among the barangays with improved barangay halls are New Tanglag, Tuga, Gobgob, Laya East.
