TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Office of the City Local Government Operations Officer (CLGOO) began orientation on the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB), also known as the Gangsa Award, for the 43 barangays of the city on March 12, 2025.
The Gangsa Award is a recognition given to barangay governments that demonstrate valuable dedication to public service and exemplary performance on transparency and accountability.
According to CLGO Officer Helen Lacuesta, the assessment of performance will consider governance areas such as financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; peace and order and public safety; business friendliness; environmental management, and social services, including health services and education, among others.
The award is given annually during the Matagoan Festival in June, which necessitates early orientation and planning.
A total of 10 barangays will be awarded, five in the Urban Category and another five in the Rural Category.
Last year’s awardees in the Rural Category were barangays Lucog, Tuga, Masablang, Lanna, and Malalao. Bulanao, Dagupan Weste, Dilag, Ipil, and Laya East were the top five winners in the Urban Category. By Rio Bassong
