BAUKO, Mountain Province – The local government acquired a state-of-the-art ambulance from the health department to help in the implementation of its enhanced health program towards keeping the residents healthy to be productive and contribute to increasing the economic activities and sources of livelihood in the different communities.
Mayor Abraham B. Akilit said the new ambulance will be used by the local government in the implementation of the programmed interventions to possibly identify the causes of illnesses among the young and old residents so that better programs and projects could be crafted to address the health problems of the people for them to remain healthy and productive, aside from being used for emergency purposes by residents from the town’s 22 barangays.
“Young and old people should not die due to illnesses and we need to come out with a comprehensive study to identify the causes of death of our people so that the concerned government agencies and the local government could formulate the needed programs and projects that will keep the people away from such dreaded health problems,” Mayor Akilit stressed.
He claimed the implementation of the enhanced health program of the local government will be done in close coordination with the health department and the Manila-based San Beda College that committed to provide the required technical support for the conduct of the comprehensive study.
According to him, people should be healthy and enjoy their lives on this planet and illnesses could be prevented through the implementation of suitable interventions beneficial in sustaining their health conditions.
Akilit underscored the sustained implementation of the local government’s enhanced health program is one of the priority projects of his administration for his constituency to maintain good health and become productive in their endeavours to enhance their living conditions, especially those living in the remote villages who are often deprived of the government’s basic services, thus, the need for the local government to be involved in cascading health programs to the grassroots level for them to avail of the basic services that are due them in the first place.
He emphasized that the local government decided to partner with private institutions for the realization of the enhanced health program as he want to leave a legacy to his constituents considering that health is a key aspect of life that should be maintained for people to be productive.
Bauko is a fourth-class municipality which relies on its internal revenue allotment (IRA) from the national government to bankroll the implementation of its development projects and enhance the delivery of basic services, thus, the need to improve its linkages with concerned government agencies and private partners to access more financial and technical assistance that could be used to improve its services to its increasing constituency.
