Bauko, Mountain Province – Forty women of this municipality gathered last June 3-5, 2016 at the Garden Breeze Hotel at Bangao, Buguias for seminar on Business Start Up and Business Maintenance Workshop with Gender and Development Training sponsored by CJ Moran Community Legal assistance Office (CJ Moran CLAO) and the US embassy.
The women were taught on socio-business enterprise as an empowering strategy to alleviate poverty and the realization of Change as that concept of development they desire.
Five Women Organization: Mount Data Kataguan Women’s Organization, Saint Bede Mushroom and Vegetable Growers, Aweng di Ampasit Women Organization, Ampasit Women Organization and the Sadsadan Advocate for Social Development were granted PhP 80, 000.00 each as seed capital for their entrepreneurial projects. The grant was from the US embassy facilitated by the CJ Moran CLAO.
The Chief Justic Manuel B. Moran Community Legal Assistance Office (CJ Moran CLAO) is a legal aid clinic established under Saint Louis University with address at G/F Student Center, Saint Louis University, Cooperative St., Corner Assumption Road, Baguio City, Philippines. CJ Moran CLAO is presently under operation of SLU-School of Law practicumers with Atty. Jose Adrian Bonifacio as the Director. Founded on April 18, 2015, the CJ Moran CLAO is envisioned as the center of active involvement in social transformation in the Cordillera.
Mayor Abraham B. Akilit welcomes the opportunity that empowers and capacitates women for development. He thanks the US Embassy thru Atty. Neil Y. Pacamalan and Atty. Jose Adrian Bonifacio for the grant and activity and hope for further partnership in women and development and social transformation.
Mayor Akilit’s banner program includes entrepreneurial development as livelihood support to improve the lives of Bauko women.
