MILLIONS of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from 35 different countries around the world are expected to participate in the miting de avance of presidential frontrunner Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr., on April 1.
According to Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) secretary general Thompson Lantion, for the first time in the country’s political history, there will be a large-scale and comprehensive miting de avance for OFWs initiated by a presidential poll leader.
It will be held at 6:00 pm this Friday (Philippine time) where Marcos will meet fellow OFWs who work or now live overseas.
Saidah Tabao Pukunum, chairperson of PFP-OFW International Affairs, said there are 10 million Filipinos living or working abroad.
Of the said number, 1.7 million are registered voters who will be part of the absentee voting that will take place from April 10 to May 9 elections in the Philippines.
“Marami po ito dahil iyong hindi makakasali sa zoom ay puwedeng makapanood via Facebook,” said Pukunum.
Marcos will be staying at the Hilton Hotel in Resorts World and there he will be able to meet OFWs via zoom.
There will be a short but meaningful program where OFWs will hear Marcos’ government platforms not only for the Philippines but also for the modern- day heroes working abroad, as well as for the sake of their families.
Some of the countries with huge number of OFWs expected to attend the meeting are from Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Brunei, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Cambodia, Taiwan, Turkey, Cyprus, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Moscow, Armenia, Spain.
United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Jeddah, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Israel, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Canada, Chile and many more.
According to Jeremy Harry Amar, president of PFP-OFW International Affairs, apart from the 35 countries with OFWs, most of them are also in various states, provinces or regions.
Just like the seven emirates in UAE like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Um Al Quwain, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimai.
Also attending are from Rome and Milan in Italy; Jeddah and Riyadh of the KSA, other states in the United States and provinces in Canada such as Winnipeg, Vancouver, Toronto and many others.
Aside from Marcos, the OFWs will also be fortunate to interact with his running-mate Inday Sara Duterte and other senators of the BBM-Sara UniTeam during the meeting.
