ITOGON, Benguet – A total of 139 boys benefitted from the three-day Operation Tuli Caravan conducted recently by Benguet Corporation covering its three host barangays here.
The first stop was at Barangay Ampucao on May 26 with 32 boys circumcised.
Seventy-two boys from Barangay Virac also benefitted from the services during the second day of the event.
The caravan mission ended at Barangay Poblacion on May 28, catering to 35 boys who were able to avail of the services which is one of the mining company’s corporate social responsibility projects for its host and neighboring communities.
Operation Tuli, an annual outreach program, has become a staple project in the implementation of the company’s Social Development and Management Program. This has been conducted every summer break since 2008 wherein close to a thousand young boys were able to benefit from the services rendered to them by experts hired by the company for such purpose.
The annual caravan has been bringing the services to the communities’ doorstep, thus sparing parents of bringing their boys to the nearest hospital, including expenses attached to it.
Beneficiaries are provided a week’s supply of pain relievers and other necessary medicines to assure their full recovery in time for the start of the coming school year.
Benguet Corp’s Operation Tuli has since benefitted more than 1,400 boys with Benguet Laboratories as a regular partner, alongside with relevant local government units.
