BAGUIO CITY – A PhP38 million two-storey multipurpose building is expected to rise within the premises of Baguio Country Club (BCC) in the next six months as part of the club’s long list of development initiatives designed to further improve its services to both the clients and, more importantly, the employees.
BCC general manager Anthony de Leon led the recent groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed structure that will expand the facilities and offices currently occupied by the old building that was constructed in the 1950s.
He claimed that the proposed structure will house the club’s human resource office with its own training center and conference room, airconditioned employees food court with five to six concessionaires, shower and locker rooms for management, expanded golf kart parking area, centralized tool and equipment area, among others, that will contribute in improving the current condition of the structures within the club’s property.
“We are proud that we are able to keep our employees happy. We have to keep their morale high for them as they take care of our guests,” de Leon stressed.
The BCC official pointed out that the old structure could already be considered short of being a fire hazard that is why the appropriate rehabilitation and improvement is necessary in consideration of the needs of the clients coupled with the necessity to upgrade the existing structures.
According to him, the construction of the multipurpose building is just part of the club’s long list of desired development projects that will be implemented in staggered basis in the coming years to cope with current trends and the needs of the increasing number of clients patronizing the club’s services.
According to him, the club’s project will be completed in six months as they are used to working on either big or small projects within this timeframe for the benefit of the clients availing of the offered services.
He admitted that the club has a fast turnover of employees, especially among young ones, because they simply try to get the needed work experience before applying for greener pastures overseas and the club is doing its best to make its 800-strong work force happy and with a high morale for them to be able to effectively and efficiently take care of the guests.
De Leon pointed out that with the increase in the number of food court concessionaires to five from the current one will definitely provide the employees and other clients with more choices of food aside from allowing them to relax with the presence of the air conditioning facilities and free WiFi services.
He underscored the importance of trying to at least provide for whatever feasible needs of the employees as these will translate to better services for the club’s increasing number of clients, being the only exclusive club in the country’s Summer Capital.
The BCC general manager assured that the new structure will conform with the standards of a green building based on the parameters of concerned government agencies in charge of environmental preservation and protection. By Dexter A. See
