As Baguio remains a leading educational hub in the north, the BCPO remains committed to creating a safe and peaceful learning environment for students. The BAGUIO’s FINEST ensure safety and discipline among youths through police presence at schools around the city.
As part of this initiative, BCPO personnel have intensified police visibility in schools and common hangout spots, including areas frequented by students and out-of-school youths. Additionally, police officers advise students against carrying prohibited items that could potentially be used in altercations and commission of crimes. Since January of this year, this effort has led to the confiscation of various restricted objects, including knives, brass knuckles, golf balls, spike rings, vapes, and lighters, among others. These items, often linked to conflicts involving youths, were turned over by students in cooperation with the police.
This proactive measure helps prevent conflicts among youth groups and other safety concerns in and beyond school premises, ensuring their protection wherever they go—from their communities to their homes. By maintaining order and deterring youth involvement in violence and crime, the BCPO reassures parents that their children are safe, giving them peace of mind while students focus on their studies.
“A safe environment allows children to focus on learning and growth. We commend those who have cooperated and encourage all students to take an active role in keeping their schools safe,” PCOL RUEL D TAGEL, BCPO City Director, said. With the collective effort of youths, parents, educators, and government units, the city continues to uphold safety and discipline, ensuring an environment conducive to learning and character development.
