BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) provided security assistance during the Synchronized Nationwide Grand Baklas Operation on March 28, 2025. Overseen by the regional director of the Cordillera office of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Atty. Julius D. Torres and City Election Officer Atty. John Paul A. Martin, the operation focused on removing illegal campaign materials placed outside designated poster areas.
COMELEC personnel, assisted by the Department of Public Works and Highways, dismantled oversized and improperly posted materials, while BCPO maintained order throughout the activity. Under the Omnibus Election Code and Republic Act No. 9006 (Fair Elections Act), campaign materials must only be placed in designated areas and must comply with size regulations.
BCPO City Director PCol. Ruel D. Tagel reaffirmed the police force’s role in maintaining peace during the election period. “Our duty is to provide security and ensure COMELEC can enforce election laws without disruption. We continue to support efforts to maintain fairness and peace throughout the election period.,” he stated.
With the campaign period in full swing, BCPO remains apolitical and is committed to safeguarding election-related activities. The public is encouraged to report any election-related concerns to the nearest police station or COMELEC office.
