PUDTOL, Apayao – Pudtol Mayor Hector Reuel D. Pascua on Tuesday, Nov.19, during the Annual Parents-Teachers’ Association Summit held in Barangay Cabatacan, challenged the over 70 present Parents-Teachers’ Association (PTA) presidents province-wide to become catalysts of change and progress.
Pascua’s message as the guest speaker revolved on this year’s theme, “Partners in progress: Strengthening the Parent Teacher connection for student success.’’
In his talk, the Mayor urged PTA officials to sustain harmonious relationships, instill good values, and impart the preserved cultures of Apayao among schools, communities and learners. In that way, they become instruments of transformation.
“Be catalysts of change, let us capitalize on building the character of children for that is their foundation. If you intend to impact lives, that requires your accountability, consistency, and quality of service. You must plan, prepare, and provide the right information to create a legacy,’’ Pascua said.
Mayor Pascua stressed the need to impose discipline when it comes to children’s exposure to social media, reiterating both its dangers and benefits.
“Nowadays, in just a click of a finger everything on the internet is accessible including illicit contents. While there are numerous advantages of social media, its dangers are imminent. As leaders, we must supervise, guide and balance our children ‘s engagement to social media to safeguard them,’’ he explained.
Meantime, Schools Division Superintendent Irene S. Angway, in her speech, re-echoed Mayor Pascua’s challenge to PTA officers, underlining the need to actively collaborate as there are pressing concerns affecting school learners and their families that need to be resolved. By Arjay Baysa
