LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Securing their second win since 2023, Barangay Beckel emerged as the champion in the Valley of Colors category of the Grand Float competition, which was revealed during the closing program on March 28 at the Municipal Gym, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The floats were bared in the Drum and Lyre performances and Float Parade, one of the major highlights of the Strawberry Festival, on March 22. Six barangays in the municipality joined the Valley of Colors float category. The participating barangays were Barangay Beckel, Barangay Puguis, Barangay Wangal, Barangay Bineng, and Barangay Pico.
“Hindi namin inexpect na kami yung [grand champion] kasi apat kami pero very close kasi yung fight namin sa first runner-up so we are very overwhelmed na kami ang naging champion ngayong year,” Ashley Dalis, Barangay Kagawad of Beckel, enthused.
Barangay Beckel was hailed as grand champion in 2023 and has reclaimed their title this year. “More than 1 week kasi yung preparation namin na medyo mahirap din pero dahil sa tulong-tulong na effort ng mga barangay official, staff, and other Barangay working forces yun naman nagawa naman namin,” Barangay Kagawad Dalis further shared.
Barangay Bineng was honored as the first runner-up while Barangays Pico and Bahong were tied as the second runners-up. By Lyka Capsula
