LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Teachers and pupils of the Bekkel Elementary school has actively participated in the implementation of the Regional Memorandum No. 251 s. 2016 National Clean-Up Day on September 17, 2016with the theme, “Bayan Ko, LinisKo”
The National Clean-Up Day is a partnership activity of the Department of Education and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through school organization; The Youthfor Environment in Schools Organization (YES-)), Supreme Student Government(SSG), the Science Club and other school organizations.
The cleaning program targeted areas in the barangay not limited to thoroughfares, roads, sidewalks, parks, public and private establishments, schools, churches, vacant lots, industrial and commercial states, and coastal areas and river systems.The activity is part of the Clean 500 program for the Environment in the first 100 days of the President Rodrigo RoaDuterte. The clean-up day is also aligned with R.A 9003 or the Ecological solid waste management Act.
This act is encouraging everyone to be creative and resourceful enough to make use of the waste available in the surrounding into another useable form. Doing and participating in the national activity is not only doing for the purpose but also inculcating into the minds of growing children the beauty of being responsible in the promotion for health awareness and protection of the living world.
Besides, doing such an activity in any form is also making waste into money form which would be added to daily consumption for individual, and most, making a difference in participating in the “Cleaning and Greening Program of the Barangay/Community.
