LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has launched its First Pamaskong Handog Project to the school children of Bekkel Elementary School on December 14, 2016.
The “Handog Pamasko of the NGCP caters on the basic needs of indigent school children. This project is a collective effort of all the personnel of the NGCP-North Luzon which uplifted the spirits of everyone this Christmas season. The uniqueness of the company’s project has made the Bekkel school children feel the real essence of Christmas which is not only celebrating the birth of Jesus but the time for giving love and affection, happiness, and generosity.
Christmas is a time to share and give love to evryone. The belief of “what you give is what you receive” is one trait virtued in us to practice and has been done not only on Christmas time but all the time of the year rather can all be Christmas time. This is because Christmas is too long to wait when you really meant to give or share as the children sang the line “remember when you give, you also get a share, tomorrow may not come, by then twill be too late”. This is what is within the heart of the NGCP family- making life happy.
The conduct of the company’s project has gone through long process where the department -in charge has to do survey in barangays who really need to cater. Luckily, Barangay Beckel has been chosen based on the needed data gathered from the school records of children and also data from the barangay related to the basic needs of the children. Through the coordination of the NGCP personnel, the school children have to write their Christmas wish in card. Some have wished for jacket, school supplies, back pack, sleepers, sports equipment, shirts, pants and shoes for graduation, and some also have wished for food which they did never taste or have not eaten like Noche Buena, chocolates, cakes, salad, and others have wished-for sack of rice.
The launching of the project has marked a very momentous event for the children in receiving their wished gift being granted. Likewise, for the many Santa Claus who made the children happy. Of course, messages from NGCP, the Outgoing Head, NLOM Department Jose R. Arellano, Jesus S. Balonso, Head, NLHD, Division, and Hon. Allan Y. Maliones, Barangay Chairman of Beckel have inspired everyone during the program.
Even for once, not only the children enjoyed the gift giving but also the parents, the PTA officials, Barangay officials, school personnel headed by Rosalina O. Laureta, and the community. The program has ended after the long beating of the Gongs and dancing which was happily participated by the visitors. And of course children were also given food.
