TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Air Sports activities such as paragliding, paramotoring, and hot air balloon rides are planned to be launched in the city in partnership with the Northside Air Flying Sports Center of the Philippines.
In line with Mayor Darwin Estrañero’s initiative to maximize the city’s landscape potential and provide thrilling sports activities for both tourists and locals, the City Tourism Officer, Arlene Ethel Odiem, is establishing partnership with Northside to develop such adrenaline-fueled events in the city.
With this, the said Sports Center, headed by Aristotle Mendoza, conducted aerial inspections, test flights, and surveys in different locations of the city to assess its feasibility.
He said that Tabuk City has a high potential to boost this kind of sports tourism because of its terrain and land composition. He also mentioned that the launch of these activities will not only boost local tourism but also encourage locals to become investors and be trained to continuously fuel this kind of sports once launched.
Odiem agreed to this, saying that this project will be a fascinating addition to the city’s list of attractions, and will surely draw in visitors seeking unique sports experiences.
This is planned to be launched during the upcoming Matagoan Festival in June. To add excitement, Odiem proposed flying an aerial opening banner to signal the festival’s commencement using Northside’s equipment. Separate shows for hot air balloon and paramotor activities are also planned to be showcased to the people of the city.
These Air Sports have gained immense popularity across the globe for their unique ability to combine the thrill of flying while experiencing breathtaking scenic views, and when successfully launched in Tabuk City, it will undoubtedly capture the attention of thrill-seekers and sports enthusiasts from nearby provinces and even international tourists.
