BAGUIO CITY – In the spirit of inter-agency cooperation, the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) has condoned the accumulated surcharges for the city’s late payment of electric billing for the Baguio Convention Center.
BENECO general manager Gerardo Verzosa has transmitted the electric cooperative board’s resolution waiving payment of the surcharges in response to a request of city mayor Mauricio Domogan.
“May we respectfully request your kind consideration by waiving accumulated surcharges incurred for the late payment of the Baguio Convention Center’s monthly billing for electric consumption,” Domogan electric asked in a letter to the BENECO board of directors.
At the same time, the mayor said “that the unbilled kilowatthour consumption from May 3, 2008 to May 13, 2017 due to KWH meter replacement amounting to P28,290.48 has already been paid” by the city.
In approving the request, the electric cooperative board headed by director Rocky Aliping acted favorably on the recommendation of Verzosa to drop the surcharges.
Verzosa recommended condonation, noting the city government’s commitment that the city’s electric bills effective this year will be processed and paid earlier than the due date.
