BAGUIO CITY – The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) continues to stamp its class as one of the tops performing electric cooperatives in the country as it snared some sixteen prestigious awards during the annual Philippine rural electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) Awards held recently.
For the 4th consecutive year, BENECO was conferred the Ace of Tariff Award which is given to the electric cooperative which has the cheapest off-grid and on-grid electricity rate from January to December 2021.
Further, BENECO was also a recipient of the Gold Stellar Award which is given to the electric cooperative for attaining a 98-100 percent collection efficiency for the same period amidst the outstanding leadership crisis confronting the same.
The Sustained Improvement Award was given to BENECO for its ability to attain 90-94 percent rating in the electric cooperative performance assessment last year.
The PHILRECA also conferred to BENECO the Prompt Payer Award for its ability to timely and efficiently settled their annual dues to the association as of June 30, 2022 despite the freezing of most of its accounts from the depository banks.
BENECO received the limelight Award for its ability to attain a 95 percent and above status of electrification last year.
The Strong Commitment to Brotherhood Award was given to BENECO for its continuous deployment of Task Force kapatid contingents to assist the affected electric cooperatives after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette.
Moreover, the Occupational Safety and Health Excellence Award was given to BENECO for its ability to maintain zero casualty of employees while in the line of duty from June 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022.
BENECO was again given the Extra Mile Award for its implementation of the Pantawid Liwanag program at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The MCO Champion award was received by BENECO for its ability to organize the member-consumer-owners (MCOs) per barangay in its franchise area.
Among the other awards received by BENECO include the Outstanding Performance Award for its ability to maintain single digit systems loss last year; Champion of the One EC Network Award for its ability to carry out the vision and mission of the One EC Network Foundation, Inc. to life by providing basic social and economic services to beneficiaries while in the midst of a pandemic and crisis; Outstanding Radio Program Award for establishing their own radio station and program or had a contract and time slot with other radio stations; Unparalleled Service Award for implementing the 24/7 customer service as of May 31, 2022; Digital Transformation Award for having mobile or digital applications for member-consumer-owners implemented from June 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022; Making A Difference Award for having established and operationalized renewable energy projects from the period June 1, 2021 to April 30, 2022 and EC-MCO Prime Mover Award for those electric cooperatives who did not only become front-runners in pursuing relevant and pressing concerns in the EC sector but a staunch protector of their EC by amplifying the vice of the MCOs to stand with the EC in crucial times.
