In keeping with its support program for towns within its franchise area, the Benguet Electric Cooperative will install 50 units of 70-watt streetlights and five closed-circuit television cameras for Bokod, Benguet.

The installation is part of Beneco’s support to the peace and order campaign within its area of operation and in consonance with its plan to develop a mini-hydro project in Bokod.

Beneco president Rocky Alipng and Bokod mayor Thomas Wales Jr. signed the memorandum of agreement covering the project last March 26.

As agreed, the street lights will be on from 6 p.m..to 6 a.m.with the energy consumption, equipment and materials to be installed “shall be considered as advanced payment from Beneco” for its hydroelectric project in the town.

The 50 units of streetlgihts shall be distributed to barangay Pito – 5, Bobok-Bisal – 8, Poblacion – 11, Ekip – 7, Karao – 5, Bila – 5, Daclan – 5, and Nawal – 5.

Beneco general manager Gerry Verzosa, through Engr. The agreement provided that “Beneco shall provide the necessary labor cost and materials for the maintenance/repair and total replacement of broken/busted and dilapidated street lights and street light accessories, and the CCTV cameras to be computed and charged to the future benefits of the municipality (from the minik-hydro to be constructed).
