Ang benepisyo sa pagpapalibing o mas kilala bilang Funeral Benefit ay hiwalay na benepisyo bukod sa death benefit, na maaari ring tanggapin kapag namatay ang isang miyembro.  

Kung sa death benefit ay benepisyaryo ng namatay ang tatanggap ng benepisyo, sa funeral benefit naman ay hindi kinakailangang kamag-anak ng namatay na miyembro ang mismong claimant.  Basta’t kung siya ang nagbayad sa pagpapalibing ng miyembro at sa kanya nakapangalan ang resibo mula sa funeral parlor, siya ang qualified na tatanggap ng benepisyong ito. 

Batay sa SSS Circular No. 2023-009 patungkol sa Revised Guidelines on the Social Security Funeral Benefit Program, may sinusunod na order of priority ang SSS sa pag-claim ng benepisyo.

Una rito ang surviving legal spouse. Subalit, kung hindi binayaran ng surviving legal spouse ang funeral expense o kaya naman hindi na ito matagpuan o sumakabilang buhay na, at single ang namatay na miyembro, ang susunod sa order of priority ay ang mga anak, magulang o iba pang natural person na makakapagpakita ng proof of payment. 

Kasama sa covered expenses ang embalming services, burial transfer services at permits, funeral services (kabilang ang church fees o ang equivalent nito sa ibang relihiyon), cremation o interment services, pagbili o pag-upa ng kabaong, pagbili o pagrenta ng nitso/lote sa sementeryo o vault sa columbarium, at kabayaran para sa memorial/funeral insurance plan.  

Ang halagang maaaring matanggap ng claimant ay mula P20,000 hanggang P60,000 basta’t may hindi bababa sa 36 monthly contributions ang namatay na miyembro. Kung less than 36 monthly contributions ang hulog ng yumaong miyembro, makakatanggap ang qualified beneficiary ng fixed amount na P12,000.00.

Ang halaga ng matatanggap ng isang claimant ay nakabase pa rin sa resibong i-susubmit niya, ngunit hindi lalagpas sa kabuuang funeral benefit na maaring ma-claim.  Halimbawa, kung batay sa SSS computation ay qualified na makatanggap ng P30,000 ang claimant, ngunit P20,000 ang nasa resibo – ang matatanggap pa rin niyang benepisyo ay P20,000.

Sa kabilang banda, kung ang na-compute ng SSS benefit ay P20,000, subalit P30,000 ang nasa resibo – ang matatanggap na benepisyo ng claimant ay P20,000.

Bago magpasa ng Funeral Benefit application online gamit ang My.SSS Account, dapat ay may Social Security (SS) Number ang claimant. Kung wala pang SS Number at My.SSS account, magtungo sa pinakamalapit na SSS branch. 

Kung mayroon ng SS Number at My.SSS Account, maaari nang i-enroll ang disbursement account sa My.SSS Portal. Dito kasi ipapasok ang benefit proceeds mula sa SSS. Ang ilan sa mga disbursement account na maaaring piliin ng claimant ay bank account mula sa PESONet participating banks; Electronic Wallets tulad ng GCash o Maya; at Cash Pick-up mula sa remittance transfer companies (RTC) o cash payout outlets (CPO) gaya ng M Lhuillier. Subalit, kung ang SSS UMID Card ay nakaenroll bilang ATM, dito na otomatikong idedeposit ang benepisyo. 

Para sa kumpletong listahan ng mga dokumentong kinakailangang i-upload sa aplikasyon, bisitahin ang opisyal na SSS Website www.sss.gov.ph.  

May 10 taon na prescriptive period ang Funeral Benefit Claim. Ibig sabihin, pwede pang i-file ang Funeral Benefit Claim kahit sampung taon na lumipas matapos ang buwan ng pagkamatay ng miyembro.

Magpadala lamang ng email sa rillortac@sss.gov.ph kung may katanungan, paglilinaw o anumang paksa tungkol sa SSS na nais ninyong pag-usapan.
