LATRINIDAD, Benguet – Empowering a research culture in the Cordillera Region, the Basic Education Research Fund (BERF) granted financial support to 31 researchers in the region. Most of the grantees come from Benguet with 10, followed by Baguio City and Kalinga both with seven. Additionally, Ifugao has three, Apayao has two, and Mt. Province and Tabuk City has one grantee each.
The BERF is a funding facility for potential studies conducted by eligible DepEd personnel geared towards improving access to education, quality of education and governance. Also, it caters to researchers who have no enough fund to finance their research studies.
As per DepEd Order No. 16 s. 2017 entitled “Research Management Guidelines,” the DepEd-CAR Office calls for an orientation to brief the proponents on the requirements, roles and responsibilities of both the researcher and the concerned committees, and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement to ensure accountability of both parties.
The grantees signed the MoA with the DepEd-CAR represented by Dr. Bettina D. Aquino, the assistant regional director, on August 10, 2018, at NEAP- CAR Training Center, Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Crisanta P. Pantaleon from the Policy Planning and Research Division (PPRD) discussed the content of the memorandum with the grantees. On the other hand, Aquino encouraged the grantees reiterating the words “Let’s make research a culture in DepEd.”
