LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. and Benguet caretaker congressman Eric Yap assured that the province will be having better infrastructure that will contribute in spurring economic activities in the far-flung communities during his term as a full pledged District Representative.
Yap, who was given by the province’s electorate a chance to be its Representative to the House of Representatives in the 19 Congress, stated that aside from the opening of major inter-municipal, inter-provincial and inter-regional road networks, he will also be busy sourcing out funds to bankroll the implementation of waterworks projects so that people in the remote communities will have easier access to potable water.
He claimed that the ongoing road opening works to Tacadang, Kibungan and Kayapa, Bakun must first be completed before the provision of funds by the public works department for concreting and other slope stabilization and drainage projects that will make the same important road networks linking key vegetable-producing communities to the nearest markets that will allow farmers to easily transport their agricultural produce with lesser transportation cost compared to the present situation.
The neophyte lawmaker also previously worked out the funding requirements for similar road opening projects from Itogon to Nueva Vizcaya and from Tuba to Pangasinan that will link remote villages from the said towns to the nearest area in the neighboring communities of Regions I and II so that people will have better access to basic services which had been deprived from them over the past several decades.
According to him, there will be significant developments that will be introduced in the different parts of the province in the next 3 years as he will work hard to work with concerned government agencies to provide the funding requirements for the major development projects that will be implemented to help in helping Benguet become a first class province in the future.
Since he was the province’s caretaker congressman from January 2020 to the present, Congressman Yap was able to source out some P300 million to fund the implementation of various waterworks projects in some 75 sitios in the different parts of the province that contributed in people having easier access to potable water supply.
However, he admitted that there is still a long way to go for the greater portion of the province’s population to have easier access to potable water supply that is why the implementation of waterworks projects will also be one of the priority projects that he will try to ensure the availability of funds as water is one of the basic needs of the people that must be provided by the national government.
He underscored that being an Adopted Son of Benguet, he will do his best to contribute in helping concerned government agencies and local governments enhance the delivery of quality basic services and improve the implementation of high impact development projects that will contribute to the desired growth and development provincewide.
He stipulated that the ultimate goal of his being a public servant is to sustain the delivery of genuine public service to negate the claim that he came to the province for a different purpose.
